Sunday Scribblings: puzzled

patterns and shapes
tumbling over each other
angling for supremacy
colors arguing with hues
and tones and shades and values
riddles of scraps
raising a discordant din
the rag bag

calmed by a cool eye
quieted by a practiced hand
coaxed into harmony and
corralled inside a border
settled down
disparity stitched into whole cloth

this excellent quilt is the handiwork of a talented (and unknown to me) artist in Guatemala

Lovely poem, and lovely patchwork. I especially like the last line, how it draws it all together.

Oh Megan, what a beautiful poem and quilt! Did you make that? The last line was so perfect. Great choice for the theme :)

I love your combination of the puzzles of hand-crafts and of words. The poem really flows quite well.

I have to ask: Did you make that quilt? Wow.

This is so lovely and gentle. I love the image of the "cool eye and practiced hand" coaxing all these rambunctious scraps into harmony :)

BTW...thanks for your very insightful comment on my "scibblings" post. Your insight had the effect of calming and quieting all my puzzling thoughts...

The quilt certainly is a puzzle of all colors! Amazing! And I loved the poem- that "angling for supremacy" line caught my attention!

Hi Megan,

As an artist, I love your multi-hued poem as much as the gorgeous quilt displayed. Nice twist on the puzzle prompt from SS.
