no news really is good news

Sunday Scribbling's writing prompt for the week is "the news."

The news gives me the blues
not
"my guy's got a new girl" blues
not
"there's a hole in my shoe and it's raining out there" blues
not
"oh, it feels so good to feel this bad" blues
but
the "I don't want to hear about it" blues
not
the husband catching his wife with the UPS man in his own driveway
not
the robber nabbed in the parking lot because his girlfriend dropped her rabbit
not
the surprise that adjustable rate mortgages do get adjusted
not
the angry gun owner who is so horribly sorry...afterwards
not
for
me.

The world has plenty of sane, intelligent, thinking people. Paying much attention to the news would make that darn hard for me to remember.

Your last 2 lines are very true. Yet for me, I am addicted to the news still. :)
I like the structure of your poem.

Ain't it the truth!
Fabulous post.
I don't watch the news either, in fact, can't remember the last time I did....and yet somehow I still hear about the horror stories.

You've managed not to depress me by telling me there's so much to be depressed about, in the news, in the world.

There has to be hope, yes?

Also, I really like the colours in your layout. I'm starting to get a design-itch, here in my mid-thirties, that I never knew I had. Now, if only my design-paws were long enough to reach it!

Loved this poem. Reading many "in the news' posts, it's amazing How many of us are just Fed up with all the bull in the news! I'm glad it's not just me. I gave up reading all the upsetting stuff long ago. I now skip to the cryptoqote and crossword, the weather Dear Amy....

Bravo! I often regret that all the rest of the world sees of our country is what's in our news. (It's one reason I refuse to go back to a newsroom now that my kids are getting older. There are lots of other ways for to earn money!) Thanks for stopping by my blog ...
