Sunday Scribblings: astrology

“…the planets do not ‘cause’ specific events any more than the hands of a clock ‘cause’ a specific time. Rather, the planetary positions are indicative of the cosmic state of archetypal dynamics at that time.” Richard Tarnas in Cosmos and Psychic Intimations of a New World View.

In the March/April issue, Resurgence magazine published a review of this new book by Tarnas (30 years in the making). This particular expression of the relationship between planetary movements and human experience appealed to me. He illuminates what, I believe, is the truth at the heart of astrology…that humans and planets are functionaries of a living system. The reviewer (Jordi Pigem) writes, “No deterministic world is espoused here, but a fully open participatory universe, a cosmic web of synchronicities in which microcosm and macrocosm mirror each other.”

Something to think about.

p.s. and if you don't already know about Rob Brezsny, take a look. Messages come from all sorts of places...and, for me, this is one of those places.

p.s.s. moon photo from a month of todays, where you can see what I see.
